Kakum National Park,
Central Region

Kakum National Park is on coast of southern Ghana, in West Africa. It protects an area of rainforest, home to endangered mammals such as forest elephants, bongo antelopes and primates like the Diana monkey. The park is rich in butterflies and birds, including African grey parrots and hornbills. The Canopy Walkway, suspended 30 meters above the ground, provides treetop views of the forest.

Boti Falls,
Eastern Region

Boti Falls is a twin waterfall located at Boti in Yilo Krobo District in the Eastern Region of Ghana. These twin falls, which come from two rivers, are referred to as female and male; according to local myth, a rainbow is formed when they merge.

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum
Greater Accra Region

Kwame Nkrumah was born September 1909, in Nkroful, Gold Coast (now Ghana) and died on April 27, 1972, in Bucharest, Romania. He was a Ghanaian nationalist leader who led the Gold Coast’s drive for independence from Britain and presided over its emergence as the new nation of Ghana. He headed the country from independence in 1957 until 1966.

On the premises is a museum that has on display objects from various stages of his life. The building is meant to represent an upside down sword, which in Akan culture is a symbol of peace. The mausoleum is clad from top to bottom with Italian marble, with a black star at its apex to symbolize unity.

Cape Coast Castle,
Central Region

Originally built by Sweden in the 1650s, Cape Coast Castle shifted into Danish, Dutch, and then English possession by the 1660s. In the castle’s early decades, trade revolved around gold, wood, and textiles before English merchants began to seek captive Africans in large numbers. Today it serves as one of the best attraction sites to Africans all over the globe to come and learn about our ancestry and history.
